I started my career with a job in 2009 which I left in 2012.

After that I got into my own business in 2012 and have been running it successfully till now. Currently, over the last year the trend is bad for my business genre, so I was planning to get back into work while my Wife decided that she will handle the business. She is managing it well and now I am hardly involved with it.

I also did free lancing work for one firm between 2012 to 2015 on monthly commission basis, after which I was solely focussed on my business.

However, a friend of mine had a job opening in his firm and his clients are basically people who are into my business. I felt that since I have the business insight from the Client's perspective, this would be a good opportunity.

Now the problem here is this, while I have all documents certifying my previous job, plus the current business, the HR of the firm is holding back my offer letter saying that I need to provide proof of my last drawn CTC of the firm while leaving in 2012. This even when I have provided every other document with regard to the free lancing work as well as my current business.

I am based in Pune and the old firm is in Kolkata. I mailed them asking for CTC related details which I could provide to this new one, but they are quoting confidentiality and not giving me the info. I do not have any pay slips or old bank statements or the last increment letter. I just have the first offer letter and my old firm HR has confirmed on mail my working details with Employee id. Since at that I had jumped into business and the firm for which I did free lancing work, didn't ask for anything, I never bothered to keep any documents as I didn't expect I would be go back to doing a job again.

I even told the new firm's HR to consider my joining CTC of my old firm of 2009. But she says that on basis of that they can't justify my current CTC offer and it will be much lower.

Secondly it seems they are not even considering the business experience I have even though that was majorly the basis on which I was interviewed and selected.

What should I do? Should I tell them to give me the offer based on what documents I have submitted or of they are not budging then should I let it go?

Will I have the same issue with any other firm that I have applied for currently?
