Going to leave my current job, when should I?
I love my current employer but they have no presence in the area we are targeting so as to be closer to my wife's family.
Due to the way our compensation works, leaving before June would make no sense. My initial thought was to wait till June, leave and work somewhere in our current area and then transfer in 2020 (when our lease expires).
Now wondering if I should stay and focus on landing a job in the new area instead of transfer. Thoughts?

I'm not sure we can help. Only you know what is best for you to do, so this is not really an answerable question as it stands. A 'what should I do?' type question isn't really the type of questions we answer here.

How soon do you want to be closer to your wife's family? What is the chances that you could actually find a job locally that would let you transfer in 2020?
